Kings Outage

April 4th, 2009 by admin

Our server, kings.il.us.christian-irc.com has been down a lot today, owing to network maintenance in the datacenter.

Earlier in the day it was decided to shut the server down to save it constantly splitting, and a Supportive ticket is being held open pending the maintenance being completed.

We’ve been receiving updates from our provider, iSpeeds Communications, as well as from the datacenter staff at Sharktech, and it seems someone at Sharktech failed to properly configure new cisco equipment in their test environment before moving it over into the live environment, which has caused 17 hours (and counting) of packet loss, network lag and general frustration for all of their customers.

We’ll update this post when it is fully resolved, but for now Kings is back online and seems to be running OK for now, but we’ll monitor the situation and shut it down again if necessary.

We apologize for any inconvenience this causes.
