NickServ

Nickserv is the network service used to register nicknames. We recommend that you register a nickname if you intend to use our network alot, as this deters other users from stealing your name and masquerading themselves, pretending to be you.

To register a nick name you need to first be using the name you wish to register.

To change nick names, use the command "/nick [newname]" - for example /nick JesusIsAwesome.

Once you have changed to the name you wish to register, the command to register it is "/nickserv register [password] [emailaddress]"

We collect email addresses purely for registration purposes. We do not give away our email database, nor do we use it to send unsolicited emails. It is retained for the purposes of your name registration only.

You should receive a message back from Nickserv telling you that it was either successful, or if it failed.

Now, having successfully registered your name you will need to verify that it is you whenever you want to use it.

Whenever you connect as your registered name or use the /nick command to change to it, you will be prompted to "identify." This is easy - all you have to do is use the command "/nickserv identify [password]"

Be careful using this command! If you forget the /, or have any other characters in front of it you could easily send your nick password to the channel for anyone to see. We recommend using this command from a status window only!
