Network Policies
Network Policies
Channel Registration - We believe in an open channel registration model. That means that if you have a registered nickname then you are permitted to register a channel. We do expect all channels to be in adherance with our network policy. If your channel is found to be outside our rules we WILL take action.
Nickname Registration - Any user can register a nickname within the rules surrounding nickname usage.
Nickname Usage - Feel free to use any nick on our network EXCEPT: names related to religious figures, EG God, Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed, etc., OR any other name that is inappropriate for a G-rated audience. Names such as SexyBabe or HotGuy are not permitted.
Monitoring and Logging - UCCN does not, has not, and does not intend to log private chats or messages of any description. We generally log our network channels (#UCCN, #Help) and the logs are made available - this is generally for historical value, but can also be used to verify ops actions, for example, as well as for statistics. Other channels may be subject to logging either by the network or by users in the channel.
Warez and Piracy - We do not permit the usage of this network for facilitating the illegal transfer of any material, including copyrighted movies or music, or pornography of any kind.
Harrassment - Threats and harrassment are strictly forbidden.
Bots - Friendly bots are welcome in channels with the permission of that channels administration.
Language - All major network channels (#UCCN, #Help) are English-only channels. These are also strictly G-rated channels. Language filters are available via our network services for other channels if desired.
Advertising - We discourage the sharing of addresses to other chat networks in public areas. This includes other Christian networks, and other non-Christian networks.
Age limits - Any upper age limit on a channel is the decision of the channel administration. Minimum age for using the network (for any user from any country) is 13 years. If we are given credible reason to believe that a user is under the age of 13, they will be banned. This is related to COPPA law, and as we have no way to comply with the requirements imposed by the United States law with regards to children under 13 we can NOT permit them to use our network, even with parental permission.
