Staff Rules
In keeping with our belief of staff openness, the UCCN staff have implemented some new rules for staff operation. As users, if you witness these being broken, we invite you to contact us and inform us so we can deal with it accordingly. These are a modified version of katsklaw’s recommendations to IRC networks. As of 18 Aug 2008, staff rules are as follows:
Talk to users and accept their objective opinions. Get them involved! It’s their network, we just maintain it.
Do NOT force users to do anything! Avoid use of force-join, force-part commands, as well as changing hosts etc. The only exception to this is changing nicknames of users which break network policy.
While the definition of warez comes in many forms, most countries can at least agree that warez is illegally trading of copyright materials and we’ll leave it at that. Don’t let it happen.
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES THINK YOU ARE ABOVE ANYONE! ALL humans are created equal and so are their opinions. The only punishments we should be enforcing are those against the network rules, not simply those against your pride.
Do not create scripts, nor respond to users simply /whois’ing you. If they need help, they will ask.
